Oskaloosa, Iowa (July 16th 2013) –  Hot Temperatures and the

Southern Iowa Fair always seem to go together pretty well and along with that

is some great racing action. Tuesday Night was the first of two nights of

racing at the Southern Iowa Fair sponsored by Pepsi Cola Mahaska Bottling

Company and KBOE Radio, the fans in attendance saw some great racing.

First feature of the night was the Pyramid Graphics and Sports IMCA Sport Mods

feature and it was a driver nickamed “Spud” Eric Flander grabbing the lead and

really not being challenged even though Carter VanDenBerg wasn’t too far

behind. VanDenBerg tried to give a shot when lap traffic started to slow your

leaders but Flander was not to be denied his first career Sport Mod win.

VanDenBerg finish second, Track Point Leader Curtis VanDerWal was third, Brett

Lowry in fourth and Tony Johnson in fifth.

Mike Morrill grabbed the early lead in the Stars Heartland West Tour Race but

it was Josh May grabbing the lead away on lap four. May went on to take the win

meanwhile Andy Hennigar grabbed second from Morrill on lap six. Morrill settled

for third, Todd Shute, driving the DC5 came home fourth and Dusty Masolini was

“Chelsea Charger" Damon Murty redrew the pole and took full advantage of

the in the Budweiser IMCA Stock Cars feature. However “Big Daddy” Jason Cook

stayed in tow with Murty just never able to complete the pass as Murty took the

win and Cook finish in the runner up position. Corey Stout, Brad Pinkerton and

Kris Walker rounded out the top five.

Pepsi Cola IMCA Hobby Stocks feature saw Nick Murty grabbing the early lead but

Dale Porter snuck by on lap three. Porter held on to the lead until caution

waved on lap eight for Brandon Potts on the backstretch. On the restart, Porter

experienced troubles sending him to pit side that handed the lead over to Bill

Bonnett. Bonnett and the field saw the caution wave on lap nine for Derek

Hodges in turn one. Bonnett fought off challenges from Dustin Griffiths on the

restart before going on to take the win the second time in six days at SIS.

Griffiths, Eric Stanton, Nick Murty and Justin Hook rounded out the top five.

Up next was the main attraction of the night, the 25 lap Karl Performance

Hawkeye Dirt Tour for IMCA Modifieds feature. “The Iceman” Scott Hogan grabbed

the lead on lap one and shortly after the caution waved twice. First caution

was for Jacob Murray, Zach Less and Hunter Marriott getting together in turn

two. On the restart, Casey Greubel lost handle collecting Richie Gustin, Jimmy

Gustin, Tyler Groenendyk, Cayden Carter and Ronn Lauritzen in turn two. Hogan

continued to lead until “Toddzilla” Todd Shute snuck by on lap nine despite a

caution on lap six when Brandon Banks experience troubles. Shute pulled away

and went on to grab the win over Hogan, Track Promoter Mike Van Genderen, Dylan
